#ICT4Env - new technologies for environmental monitoring

What: The Environmental Protection Agency of Montenegro, Environmental Movement “OZON”, UNDP Montenegro and NGO DigitalizujMe will organize an international conference on the theme of utilization of new technologies for environmental monitoring.The objective of the conference is to present the activities in this domain, to showcase good practices of EU institutions, as well as to open a dialog on new ideas and possibilities for using new technologies in the work of institutions in charge, especially in terms of environmental monitoring.

When: Wednesday, 15th May 2013 at 11a.m.
Where: Congress room of the “Grand” hotel, Old Royal Capital Cetinje

The conference facilitator will be Maša Đikanović, co-founder and president of the Digitalizuj.Me. Speakers at the opening of the conference will be Aleksandar Bogdanović (Mayor of Cetinje), Daliborka Pejović (State secretary, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism), Rastislav Vrbensky (UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP  Resident Representative) and Albertus Jansen (Head of Eye on Earth, European Environmental Agency). Snežana Marstijepović from UNDP Montenegro will present the platform for locating waste dumps, and the representative of the Environmental Protection Agency will award prizes to citizens who tested the mobile application and reported waste dumps throughout Montenegro.

Participants in the first panel discussion entitled “How can new technologies advance the cooperation of the media, government and civil society in the area of environment“ will be Žarko Miranović (Administrator of the Facebook page “Lice Crne Gore“) and Bojana Bošković (DeputyMminister for Financial system and improvement of business environment). The panel will be facilitated by Damira Kalač, Journalist and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the “Vijesti“ portal.

The Second panel discussion, “Regional environmental cooperation and the role of Aarhus Centers“, will be moderated by Aleksandar Perović, Head of the NGO Ozon, and his guests will be Albertus Jansen (Head of the Eye on Earth“,  European Environmental Agency (EEA), Daliborka Pejović (State secretary, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism) and Ambassador Lubomir Kopaj (OSCE Mission in Montenegro).

“How can new technologies help in environmental monitoring“ is the third pannel discussion, and guest will be Miloš Milošević (co-founder and Executive director of the Interactive design studio Fleka) and Dimitar Trajanov (Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Skoplje). Moderator will be Biljana Gligorić, co-founder and Programme manager of the Center for Sustainable Spatial Development “EXPEDITIO”.

The environment has to be a concern and responsibility of all of us. Therefore, students of all three Universities in Montenegro and representatives of the digital community will be participating at this event.
