Podgorica, 4 December, 2021 - Ms. Mirjana Špoljarić Egger, UNDP’s Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, conducts a two-day official visit to Montenegro from 6–7 December 2021. She will meet with partners and stakeholders to discuss the country’s reform priorities and deliver a speech at the Ministerial Conference – A Way Forward on Gender Equality in the Defense Sector in the Western Balkans on 7 December in Budva.

While in the country, she will meet Montenegro’s representatives and partners to discuss and expand UNDP’s partnership with the country in key areas such as support to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), EU accession and the country’s on-going socio-economic reforms.

UNDP’s Regional Director will discuss topics related to the national development priorities, from transition to the green economy and COP26 follow-up, and from digital transformation to public administration reform. As the visit takes place during the 16 Days of Activism against violence against women, she will explore opportunities for UNDP to step-up cooperation with Government of Montenegro in boosting gender equality in development and means to address ongoing concerns about the increasing trend of gender-based violence.
